I have a plaque that I recieved for my birthday that I really wanted and I got it but a couple days ago I stumbled upon something I couldn't quite figure out. The plaque is a quote from General Clifton B Cates [LT at the time] and it reads:

I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold.
1stLt. Clifton B. Cates, USMC
in Belleau Wood, 19 July 1918

However after doing some research on it I saw that all the sites said that the Marines have taken over Belleau Wood on the 26th of June. On the plaque it states that he said it on July 19th. Was there another battle to it or something?

If anyone can clear this up for me I'd appreciate it. I can't seem to find anything on the subject anywhere. Thanks.
