Special Operations Marine killed in Afghanistan

A Camp Lejeune Marine died Thursday from wounds he suffered during combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Edgar A. Heredia, 28, of Houston, was assigned to 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command.
Heredia joined the Marine Corps on July 20, 1998 and was trained in reconnaissance. He joined 2nd MSOB on Jan. 1, 2007. His numerous awards included the Purple Heart medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, three Marine Corps good conduct medals and two sea service deployment ribbons.
