Congrats, mcvet,,,,,,, My brother went 4 yrs before me, but was thrown out for bad knees.......Thrown out is kinda harsh. I would believe he would have given his bad knees to have stayed a Marine. I had friends who left the Corps early due to medical reasons and I think they all would have rather finished their tour. The fact that he tried, and failed due to circumstances beyond his control, is enough to earn my respect. :flag:

Naw, not harm, no foul, just no Marines.

Dad was a pilot in WWII in the Army Air Corps. His Dad was Army in WWI.

Scads of Uncles and other relatives in the service, but I am the only Marine.

They all served well.

I will be the first marine in my family upon completion of boot camp. I have an uncle who was a DI in the army, but I don't much about his service as we are not very close. My maternal grandfather served in the Coast Gaurd during WWII, and my paternal grandfather was an engineer on the Manhattan Project.

I have a cousin, Michael, who was a Marine in the 80's & 90's- he served in Desert Storm, although I don't remember a lot of details of his deployment because I was in elementary school. I just remember coloring him pictures.

Oh yeah, & my husband, some of y'all know him. :p But that's all - I'm actually from a long line of Navy guys on both sides, so the Marine Corps isn't in my blood the way it is in some families. I'm still learning.

I only have one but he was the inspiration behind me enlisting in the Corps. His name is GySgt. Charles Dowdy. He served 22 years in the Corps. He retired the year I attended boot camp. He was the only family member that came to my graduation. The best part about it was he was wearing his dress blues. OOH RAH :usmc:
