While going thru rifle training, I had the following drilled in my head.

"This is my rifle, this is my gun, my rifle is for killing, my gun is for fun"

I went thru several rifles, but I never got tired of my one and only gun.

Not technically a weapon but it could be and it's a John Wayne. I've carried one on a watch fob or key chain since the 80's and use it about twice a week.http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif Tin cans are hell on pocket kniveshttp://www.leatherneck.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif

Hey Slinger,I still have mine also.Got it back in the 60's,and it still works, just like new.;)
I think it's known as the p-38 ?

darkgreen0311
06-18-08, 07:49 PM
You're right Ecfree it's the p38 we were still eating c-rations when i first got in and it wasn't too soon after that the m.r.e's came out. I use to love the pound cake from the c-rats and put jam on top for icing. I tell you the first Marine who makes a cooking television show on how to make military cuisine from m.r.e's will be a millionaire.

Hmm, favorite militaty weapons...

Ancient: Roman pompeii gladius.

Early Medieval: One handed full fullered sword with wheel pommel

17th/early 18th Century: Fusil de Tulle (Chasse/Marine) Used by French Marines

18 Century/Early 19th Century: 1766 Charleville Musket which the U.S. copied to produce the first American firearm the Springfield Model 1795 Musket. Honorary mention because it was not an issued military weapon but used by combatants; the American flintlock longrifle, specifically the Pennsylvania makes.

20th century: M1903, M1 Garand, M14, 1911, M2 Browning.

Overall favorite: U.S. Rifle M14

The only weapon I have fired or handled on this list are the 20th century ones...Never fired an M14 or an actual M1911 but shoot with a SA M1A and a Colt 1991.

Anyone heard of the Frag-12? It's almost like firing a grenade 500 yds from a 12ga combat shotgun. Comes in HE, anti-personnel, and I believe incendiary. It can blast through 1/4 inch rolled steel. I'd love to get my hands on some of those.

The god damn MaDuce!!!! Hell yeah! I love that weapon, and its great at tearing **** up (I got some good stories about insurgents that thought a mud hut would protect them from the .50). God I love that weapon. If i wanted to go squad level i would have to say the 249 it has its problems but I love that weapon as well.

The pen is mightier than the sword! And anything louder than a sword tends to draw fire.
