Lance Cpl. Ryan Baker has a million-dollar wound - serious enough to send him home but not incapacitating.
Less than a month after being shot in the forearm while patrolling the streets in southeast Baghdad, he's sitting in his parents' homey kitchen in Atlantis rather than in the desert with his buddies. For that, he feels guilty.
"I wish I was there (in Iraq) with them," he says, glancing out the back door. "But I'm also happy to be home. I wouldn't go back, but I regret not being there."
Attached to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Cpl. Baker said his unit was lucky - it rarely saw fierce combat. In fact, his injury was the first serious one to his unit - other than the sprained ankle he suffered when he fell into a ditch two nights before being shot.
