It's a Take one Elysium.

Back in 2000, I tried Elysium (warrior's paradise in Greek and Roman mythology) but, it was already taken. So I did spelling variations until I came up with Alisium. And it stuck. I'm part Greek and an Infantry Marine so it's appropriate.

psyclopsus
06-13-09, 09:20 PM
Some of my fellow Lance Corporals (at the time) in Okinawa discovered that cleaning Q-Tips at the cleaning tables fit nearly perfectly into the removed barrel of an M16, almost like a dart in a blowgun. We fooled around a bit shooting them around. Then they started sharpening the tips and dipping them in CLP when they shot them. I inadvertently caught one of these sharpened, CLP dipped, pointy-azz Q-Tips directly in my eye. Several days later (after the Corpsman mis-diagnosed it as pink eye) I went to the Naval Hospital at White Beach where I required immediate surgery. The doctor said if I had come to see him about a day later I would have lost my eye from infection and I'd be walking around the rest of my life as a "cyclops." The nickname stuck, hence -psyclopsus

The "us" part is because of Yahoo! Mail. It's actually supposed to be psyclops_us. I tried to register "psyclops" but it was already taken and one of the suggested substitutes was "psyclops_us" and certain websites don't like special characters (like _) so it became what it is.

My father was looking out the window of the hosptial and saw three dogs running across the street. Hence, I was named Tripledog in the Native tongue, yet given a christian name in the white mans tongue.
