LADSON, S.C., June 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Marine Corps announced two contract modifications with Force Protection for service and support of mine resistant ambush protected vehicles.

The two contract modifications, from the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va., are with Force Protection's subsidiary Force Protection Industries Inc. for work on the company's MRAP Cougar vehicles. Officials say the two service and support contracts are worth $43.7 million.

"We are very pleased to have received these new orders, which we believe demonstrate confidence in our ability to provide sustainability to the MRAP Cougar fleets," Michael Moody, Force Protection chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We continue to be pleased with the support shown to our company and our life-saving products by the United States Marine Corps."

Company officials say the announced contract modifications bring the total service awards for Force Protection in 2008 to approximately $180 million.
