Hello all. I've seen numerous threads giving poolees all the ins-n-outs of boot camp. Like what to bring, what to expect, etc. I'd like to know, what exactly is OCS like? Based on what I've read, it's not as mentally grueling as boot camp but just as physically demanding. Is this true? If anyone can tell me whatever they know, even the smallest insignificant details, I'd really appreciate it. I'm just trying to gain as much knowledge as I can since it seems this is the path I'll be taking to earn my EGA. Thank you in advance.

I've read and searched the web and this site. I've been on that same exact site actually. I'm just trying to gain insight from actual Marines through their own experiences or whatever they've learned, not any recruiting sites or whatever. But thanks anyway.

Poolee DBrown,

You are neither a Marine nor an Officer of Marines. Please refrain from posting a reply these type questions.

OCS is way more hysically demanding. More mentally demanding? It is on a whole different level. OCS is a screening process to see who is strong enough to become an Officer of the Marine Corps. The Basic School is where the mental challenges are really applied. If you are strong enough, mentally and physically, then you will evolve into an Officer of Marines.

DBrown,

Well, I do see that you have graduated and have earned the title, Marine.

Now that you are a Marine, feel free to post any advise you wish to the poolees/ DEP.

Do not answer question about OCS/ OCC/ TBS or anything better answered by an Officer.

OOORAH! Enjoy your career as One of the Few.

DBrown's profile says that his shipdate is 20080623, which means he hasn't even left for the boot camp, so he is still a poolee.

Thank you sir. If you are not naturally a leader, would enlisting be a better option? Or would you pickup leadership qualities along the way?

Well I really screwed to pooch on this one. The disadvantage of trying to do 20 things at one time.

Alright then DBrown, let that premature Oorah! motivate you.

Are we crystal clear on your comments about Officer related questions?

WOW!
1st Lt's are human after all!!!
Sparkie, what are you talking about? The Lt may have made a mistake but he still deserves repect. Spell Officer correctly. You are teaching the poolees some bad habits.
