Wall built in Kuwait to honor 4,500 fallen troops

Volunteers read aloud the names of servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan during a Memorial Day observance in Kuwait that featured a specially built memorial wall bearing photographs of the fallen.
The volunteers, from all branches of the military, recited the more than 4,500 names throughout the day at Camp Buehring on Monday.
"The fabric of our nation is woven from cloth of many races, religions, ethnicities and nationalities — common to all is the fabric of the uniforms our fallen warriors have worn on battlefields past and present," Lt. Col. Edward J. Amato, commander of the Base Support Battalion-North and Camp Buehring, told the audience at a service held to honor the dead.
"This day is because of all who spilled blood to defend their country," said a guest speaker, Lt. Gen. James J. Lovelace, commanding general of U.S. Army Central and Combined Forces Land Component Command.
The service, which included a eulogy by Chaplain (Maj.) Mark Ingles, was held on a stage with the memorial wall as a backdrop. From the stage flowed a sea of flags and flowers, one each for every fallen servicemember.
