DO You have to be a graduate before you can go to boot camp or what is the plan for all of that i would like to know a lil bit Sentence structure and grammar are your friends. It depends on the situation. If you are 17 and get your parents to sign your papers I believe you can go to boot during summer and then you'll come back and finish high school. Other then that no you can't join without graduating and next time use the damn SEARCH function.

It always amazes me to see these EXPERT POOLEES give a reply to a question! Now you Marines stay out of this, but Poolees tell me what is wrong with this reply! Come on you Experts tell me what's wrong with this picture!

NO Marines please, just poolees answer this one, OK?

If you can't even make it through high school, what makes you believe the Marines would even want you in the Corps? Why would you not graduate? Is high school too hard for you? Get a grip on your life young man. Graduate high school, then go apply to Wal Mart.

I believe that lack of a proper HS diploma is waiverable, just ask your recruiter. While you're at it, try and hurry to apply for a limited Active Reserves program; I heard it's all the advantages of being in the Reserves with active duty pay, but the deadline is like next Tuesday, so you better hurry up.

In response to the Corporal's question, in order to ship to boot camp you have to have a diploma and be at least 17 years old with parental consent. If you are 18 then you are the only person who has to sign the papers. I thought that fact was pretty common knowledge.

That's what I thought. This isn't the Army, lol.

You may also go with a GED or some sort of homeschool equivelent (I'm not sure of the specifics on the homeschool..)

You can't make fun of another branch of the Military until you have served. Those men and women have made sacrifices for their country... what have you done?
What all this boils down to is no one on this site except for the Marines or prior service poolees/wannabes should be making fun of ANY branch of the Military.

I'll tell you Davblay, with out the proper "diploma" or "G.E.D." you don't go to boot. Use a damn search function, no offense DBrown, but maybe you should know a little more before you post.

You need an High School diploma or G.E.D.
But it's better an High School Diploma than GED.

I could answer this question and everyone would think I am crazy..........

Ok I will answer anyway
The truth is.............................................

A very small percentage (not sure what the percentage is but your recruiter will not offer it that is for sure) is able to enter the Marine Corps without a high school diploma or equivalent. They must and will complete an education that is equivalent to a high school diploma while in their first term. If it is not accomplished because of operation tempo then oh well, you will not be able to advance or re-enlist in the Corps for a 2nd term. You must do well on the ASVAB to complete the requirement. Usually ones without the education can't get past the ASVAB anyway and it is almost unheard of these days. I do have 1 in my unit currently perusing his high school diploma so he can stay in the Corps.

I personally do not agree with it but those are the facts.
