I was thinking Dawkins, or maybe Wilt......but nooooooooooo, give up? It was Chuck Conners, yes the Rifleman, the actor, Chuck Connors. "He was the first NBA player to shatter a backboard, he did it while playing for the Boston Celtics in 1946".

We were watching one of his movies at work last night and the topic of Chuck came up, so i did a "IMDB" on him and found out how athletic he really was. MLB, NFL and NBA, pretty impressive. But being the first cat to shatter the backboard was a big surprise. I really thought it was D. Dawkins.

He was also the very likely the only guest commentator on Monday Night Baseball to use the F- word, lol.

Cool info. I watched Darrel "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins do it in the Spectrum in Philly in the early 80. I think he did it one more time before that in Atlanta.

Yeah, Conners was also a pretty good baseball player too. I think he played in the Dodgers organization.

Yea Jim, I thought it was Chocolate Thunder that did it first and lets not forget Chuck Connors was also drafted by the Chicago Bears (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Bears), but never suited-up for the team.....thats pretty cool, even being drafted by the NFL, MLB and NBA. I'm thinking not many can claim that.

Mike, leave it to you to come up with pics in a flash, you're unreal brother, lol.
