Hello fellow future Marines,

I was just wondering if there were any poolees or DEPs in the Crossville; Sparta; Cookville, TN area. I need to lose a little weight (about 20 pounds) before I go to Bootcamp, so i wanted to know if any one that needed to lose some weight also before Boot would want to work together because it never hurts to have support. I'm right at the Max for the H/W chart but I'd like to get my weight down 20-30 pounds.

Just let me know

Thanks a lot,

Adam

PS.. any suggestions on Quiting smoking?? I know a few Marines that still smoke but I'd like to quit if I'm going to be the BEST Marine I can be.

Check with the recruiters office in Cookeville, on Interstate drive! They are lsited in the phone book. I am sure there are a few poolees around that would love some PT company while in DEP. I'll be happy to get the number for you if you PM me.

Welcome to the site, I am glad to see even a wannabee on here from Sparta! I was getting lonely! LOL

Welcome aboard,

Dave

Hey Adam! Another person from TN is always a good thing! There should be an RSS near your area or at least in the Cookville area. The PT session for the Brentwood/Franklin RSS is Monday at 5 if your ever in the area. The CO for the state of TN is very strict when it comes to physical fitness so whichever RSS is near you will have a good weekly PT along with poolees trying to get in better shape.

I've been in the RSS at Cookeville, I actually am leaving probably monday for Nashville for my ASVAB test and all that stuff. I just want to lose a little more before I go to Boot.

I live in Seymour, TN. I'm not sure how far away that is from Crossville. I could stand to lose about 15 pounds or so and I'm planning on swearing in around June 15th or so.

Hey YMPfcDeremer, yeah thats over by Knoxville, I used to live by there in Sevierville but Crossville is about an hour and half from you haha, thats to bad because i stopped in the recruiters office today and they said they couldn't think of anyone off the top of their head but they would look in to it. They did however invite me to the pool functions on saturday so I'm going to try and make it to them

Ohh Corporal He's only 60, thats young by any stardards, thats why we're called Pups and you're called Devil DOGS! haha and I'll for sure tell him that!

Yeah I've heard it takes forever but I guess thats why they butter us up with the fancy hotel room. haha Do you have to stand in line for 8-9 hours or what?

When you do the physical! It depends on the day but the MEPS people seemingly like to take as long as possible with everything.

I guess they're just trying to do the best they can, I'm sure there's a lot of guys and girls that give them s#!t.

My Recruiter hasnt told me yet but I was wondering what all I have to do at MEPS.

Ohh and Corporal if you dont mind, where abouts do you live in Sparta, you can PM me if you dont want the world to know haha.

Well that would be nice to get a little support from someone, my family isnt too happy about my choice, at least the Mom and Grandma, and the guys when them two are around haha.

But about the phone number, mines still from Ohio, seeing that I just moved down here but if I call you I have free long distance. I was thinking, you might know some of my family, anyone of the last name Gilliam in the Sparta area.

That name, Gilliam, is one of the oldest names in Bon Air. Charlie Gilliam (only had one hand) had several sons ( Charles, Paul, John, Clyde, Bobby, that I can recall right now ) in the service in WW II (4 star family) and one in Korea. A true military family and patriots!

I am proud to say that I personally knew each one of those fine boys, Loved them like family. If they are your family, which one of those did you come from? If you didn't come from any of them then you have to be related somehow!

Sorry for getting on a soap box, But that mountain name, Gilliam, Is close to my heart!
