Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - 07:38 PM

A Marine from Midlothian died last weekend at Camp Lejeune Marine Base in Jacksonville, N.C., during training, according to information his family provided for his obituary.

Pvt. Bradley Adam Foust, 18, died Saturday on the base in eastern North Carolina, said 1st Lt. Craig W. Thomas, Camp Lejeune's deputy director of public affairs. Foust was assigned to the Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry East.

Thomas said Foust's death is under investigation and declined to comment further.

Foust, who joined the Marines on Jan. 29, is a graduate of Atlantic High School in Port Orange, Fla. Before moving to Florida, he attended James River High School in Chesterfield County for three years.

He was a student in James River's specialty Center for Leadership and International Relations, school Principal John Titus said.

"He was a nice young man and a pretty good student," Titus said.

Titus said Foust finished the 2006-07 school year at James River before moving to Florida last summer. Foust joined the Marines from Midlothian, according to information from Camp Lejeune.

Foust was born in Phoenix, Ariz. and attended middle school at Fork Union Military Academy in Fluvanna County.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday at 3 p.m. at Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Road in Chesterfield.

Marine dies on base

May 14, 2008 - 6:20PM

Pvt. Bradley A. Foust, 18, died Saturday aboard Camp Lejeune. Foust joined the Marine Corps in January and was assigned to Marine Combat Training Battalion -- part of the School of Infantry East -- at the time of his death.

The School of Infantry is part of Camp Lejeune, and all Marine recruits from hometowns east of the Mississippi River go through one of the school's battalions after boot camp. MCT is designed to teach combat skills to Marines who will not go into infantry specialties.

Foust, of Midlothian, Va., had earned the National Defense Service Medal.

The death is currently under investigation.
