Flash cards

I made some flash cards to study the rank structure and general orders. I've got the general orders down, and the enlisted ranks and officers.
But I dont know how you say the warrant officers.
Its not as simple as "3 stripes up crossed riffle in the center" or "2 silver bars".

so how do you say the warrant officers?
I need to add them to my deck of flash cards.

Flash cards??????? It AIN'T that complicated honey - may be for some of us older ones because we have fried many brain cells in the years between us.

If it really makes a difference to you, in bootcamp we said it as, "Warrant Officer 1: gold bar with two red squares. Chief Warrant Officer 2: gold bar with three red squares"

Just know how to describe them. Lord knows what your DI's might have you say when you review rank en masse.

I suggest not doing the flash cards while your still in the civilian world lol. Trust me your DI's will hammer all that info into your head so much that it will almost drive you on the verge on insanity. You know how you memorize lyrics to a song after listening to it often? Its kinda like that.

Everyone I've talked to said it was easier if you knew that stuff before you went to bootcamp, cause thats one less thing you have to worry about.

Flashcards made things easy to memorize and it was cool cause if you shuffle them all together you can practice doing them out of order.

True, we worked on Rank Structure, General Orders and Basic Marine Corps knowledge before I shipped out. You're not doing anything wrong and you may be able to help some of the slower recruits.

Haffner had it right though, just describe what you see. Remember to keep it simple and don't out think yourself. That's all there is to it, oh yeah, and an occasional Pit/Quarter Deck Visit!!

You nailed it. Dont' worry about being prepared knowledge-wise. They'll give you all the info your need, and you WILL MEMORIZE IT.

I'd concern myself more with physical and mental condtioning. Good luck!
