Today at PT at the recruiting office near the end when we were sitting around having Q&A and talking about stuff it felt like my right ear was filled with an air bubble or something. Almost like when the pressure changes in an airplane but not quite, I also couldn't "pop" it out by holding my breath or moving my jaw or however you can usually pop it out when you're on an airplane. I woudln't really say that it hurt, but it was pretty uncomfortable and I could hardly hear out of that ear when I had that feeling. It went away after a few minutes and came back and went away by itself. It hasn't come back. I've never had this happen before.

Has it happened to anyone here before? Is it "normal"?

I had an accident while shooting my rifle and the same exact symptoms happened to me. I dropped it and it went off right by my ear. It stayed that way for about a week. Then I mentioned it at a bible study I used to go to. The leader prayed over it and the next morning it was fine. I guess some things just can't be explained.

sounds familiar to built up wax. The ear nose and throat doc asked if i had been swimming in cold water? No. Living at cold high altitude? Yes. He flushed the canals and i could hear better.

Yea it's weird that it just came and went away just as fast.

Did yours just come and go or was it persistent? I would doubt I had built up wax since it just all happened within probably 15 minutes today.

I'd been working at about 7k feet fall and winter living in a wall tent. When i descended to 50 ft. above mean level about a week later one ear just all of a sudden got dim and remained that way for a few days until i decided to visit the doc and got a flush. Yours may or may not be more complicated. One visit to an ear nose and throat doctor may be able to give you an accurate diagnosis. Good Luck

Sounds like when you get your ear boxed. Go to an ENT specialist and get it checked out.

So weird someone would mention this. Last week it happened to me when I was working out (weight lifting). It would do that dulled kind of thing and I would shake my head or yawn and it would be normal for about 2 secs then go back to being all weird. Eventually it went back to normal for good after about 20 mins.

If it's just a wax build-up, your regular family doc could do the job. Actually, he'd look at it and then have a nurse or CNA do the job.
It's something corpsmen can do in the field. Simple procedure. :D

If it isn't wax, a week or so on an antibiotic will probably set it straight.

I think you just get it after working out too hard. I had that several times after PTs during the beginning of my DEP, it was like I was just hearing myself breathe in a small box or something, very uncomfortable. I did everything to make it go away but the only way was to just wait.

Ear farts !

Clean your ears!

Put a drop of peroxide in your ear and bubble it out!

Just go see the family doc. I've had this a couple times. Usually started that way then got perminant. Ear plugs had pushed the wax down tight. Had to get it flushe. Que-tips and car keys will pac kit tight also.
