Some Local Marines Waiting for a Flight Back Home
Reported by: Antonio Castelan
Last Update: 3:00 am

A Camp Pendleton wife is waiting for her husband's return. He was suppose to return from Iraq Thursday morning, but his return is up in the air.

She did not want to be identified, but she tells Fox 6, "It's really frustrating because you don't know when he's coming home."

Her husband is on his fourth tour in Iraq. The Marine wife claims her husband, and other Marines are stuck on an American base in Iraq.

"He's frustrated. He wants to come home," she explained. "He wants to be with his family. He wants to see us. He wants to see his daughter."

The military says bankrupt commercial airlines are creating the delays. Colonel Scott Hanson with the Department of Defense tells us, "We've been experiencing some delays and some inconveniences moving."

The colonel says right now the troop "surge" is on. The military has to move 53,000 soldiers this month back and forth to Iraq, and the main way to do that is with commercial flights.

"The bankruptcy of ATA impacted us to an extent," said the Colonel.

The government claims they are calling on other commercial flights to help out.
We are told things should get back to normal in a month.
