Marine coming home meets his youngest son for the first time
WFAA, TX

By MACIE JEPSON / WFAA-TV

So much has happened since Stephanie Morris had her husband home.

Their six-year-old son Westin lost his first tooth, four-year-old Landin started baseball, and two-year-old Cayden was no longer the baby. Not because he got out of diapers, but because his little brother Bryson was born.

“We were able to communicate. He saw him born on webcam,” said Morris.

But nothing compares to being able to touch the ones you love. The anticipation brings tears to Stephanie's eyes.

As Marines appear one after another, the line of homemade signs, nieces and nephews and four anxious little boys does not falter. Like Bryson's shirt says: he's here to pick up his daddy today.

And when it seemed like the last person had surely passed, Sgt. Michael Morris was seen walking off the plane.

A family together for only the second time in a year, but it was a first for the father to see his youngest so.

“I'm at a loss of words. He's beautiful,” said Sgt. Morris, looking at his new son.

And in time these little boys will resist the need to simply touch their daddy. Shyness will give way to laughter and rough-housing, and life will be normal. When they realize their daddy is home this time, for good.
