Sounds like Army to me, they promise you a large amount of money, give you any possible way to sign that line and then send you to get killed before you get your check.

I just got something in the mail tonight from the Army ROTC at my school saying "You paid for your first two years of school, we'll pay for the next two!!" I was debating on whether or not to write back saying "Damn, I joined the Marine Corps and all I got was this stupid pride".
