Cpl. Jeremy M. Vought wanted to be a war correspondent when he joined the U.S. Marine Corps two years ago.

In February, the 20-year-old Marine got that opportunity, going to the Middle East as a journalist and photographer.

"He has got to see some blood and guts of the thing," said his father, Don Vought, "He said others back (in) Kuwait don't have a clue about the real war."

"He got where he wanted to be," said Jeremy's grandfather, also named Don Vought. "We really think he's the greatest."

In addition to writing and taking photographs for the Marine Corps' news organization, Cpl. Vought has escorted journalists around Iraq. He has guided Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's embedded medical reporter, and French and Kuwaiti journalists.
