MOS Reorganized

Does anyone have any info that Data Systems 04xx is being merged with Communications 06xx?

I don't know if it will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me. Communications used to be 25xx they combined with some other things to make it 06xx. Honestly, it doesn't matter- all of the jobs are still there. They just have different numbers.

For instance I was a 2532 with a secondary MOS of 2531. That now translates to 0622, 0623 and a secondary of 0621.

The Comm/Data platoon merge thing has been talked about forever and a day. In the MEU/MSSG (or whatever they are calling THAT this month) "Comm" platoon was a mixture of all MOS's, Data, Radio Operators, MUX, Wiredogs, the whole bit. We all cross trained with each other back then.

If the switch happens (and it wouldn't surprise me, thanks to the infernal designs of that new Navy/Marine Corps computer thing that everyone hates) it will be a good thing.
