my grandfather was in USAF for 20 years, and he said he took college courses while he was active duty enlisted, on base. So I was just wondering how this works? ... if they still do it?
thanks

Sure you can but it depends on what MOS you have and what the unit tempo is. If you're in the grunts it's going to be tough, whether you're an 03 or any of the support MOS'.
It may not be as easy in the Corps, but it's doable if you're willing to sacrifice some time. Keep in mind, your primary job is being a Marine. Going to college on active duty is something you must earn by doing your primary job to the best of your abilities.
Hey McSweeney I see you live in Bourne, do you know where Peppino's pizza place is? On 6a?

There are always some sort of correspondence courses available, whether online or as a satellite class on base. Not sure if they still do it, but I remember when there were professors that would go on float so they can teach courses during the cruise.
Rest assured that once you reach your permanent duty station, you'll see many opportunities to take classes. The only question is how much free time you will actually have.
