Hello,

The army and marines has been something I always have been wanting to do since the 7th grade. I want to join after I graduate in 2009.

I have 1 problem. I am overweight. I am at least 300lbs and almost 6FT tall.

I really want to do this but I cannot get to the gym. Right now I do situps, pushups, and jumping jacks. I want to start running in the summer early in the morning so I can master the running part of the IST.

Is their anything else I can do to loose weight? I really want to accomplish this and serve my country.

Running, swimming, bike rideing dont limit yourself. All the pt you do at Parris Island as well as in the fleet is focussed mostly on endurance and strength, so try to work on all aspects. If you are overweight try a high protein low carb diet. If your still in school sports are a big help too.

You can't read or follow rules. You play with snakes.

Sheeit, give Nutrisystem a try.

Exercise is a big part of losing weight, obviously, but nutrition is just as important. You have to eat right, or else those pounds will never leave you. Cut down on the fatty foods, fast food, etc. A friend of mine completely cut dairy out of his diet for awhile and he didnt nothing but cardio and shed pounds EXTREMELY fast.

Push ups, jumping jacks, etc, while good exercise, wont shed the unwanted body weight as fast as you'd like it to. Try going for long walks for a start, then move on to jogging at your own pace...from there you can push yourself further into runs, sprints, etc. In the battle for weight loss, cardio is your best asset. Running up and down stairs is a good cardio exercise..just make sure you dont slip and bust your a$$.

Like I said before, focus on your diet. Cut your calorie intake in half, and start doing more cardio, and you should start seeing results.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
