You DO NOT want to be in PCP! It DOES NOT count for anything other than working you in something you're bad at - PCP is just added time to the time you're training to be a Marine. You WANT to spend more time on the Island?

It entails 16 hours a day of hell,,,,,,,You can do it.

You'll start the day with a workout.
Continue with another workout.
And then finish off with an afternoon workout.

It's fatcamp on 'roids.

One of the things that I really hate is to see an out of shape Marine. It disgusts me and every once in awhile I will see one. A word of advice....DO NOT ship until you work that fat off and you are in decent shape. If you go to boot just barely meeting the fitness standards you are going to hate life...and if you get to the fleet and are overweight then you will hate life even more.

I agree with my fellow Marines. If you ship before you work that flab off your world will suck! Step back from the ship date, get with your recruiter, work your a$$ off, and then go. The last thing the DI's want to do is waste their time trying to get you where you should have been in the first place, and that's ready for boot!

Enough said, go do some running!

One thing is I'm a reservist and I need to finish bootcamp in time to come back to school. Also, by no means am I fat I can do 120 situps, 10 pull-ups and I have a 10:30 mile and a half run. The fact is I spent most of the later part of highschool and the beginning of college weight lifting, and I don't have much to lose from.

Having been the weight control NCO. I request that you meet me on the parade deck at 0530. I already have a charge sheet filled out if you are late. PT will last until 5 minutes before the chow hall closes unless you complain.... then it will last until noon chow is closed. If you are a fatbody step right up I have the solution to your problem.

With stats like that on the IST, I would recommend that you start running the PFT instead, complete with the three mile run, crunches, pull ups and all! It doesn't sound like you have much to worry about PCP if your Stats are that good on the IST!

If you are to heavy, they will do a Pinch test and see if you fall into acceptable weight that way! Some people are just natural big!

WTF? Where is the question here?

If you can get a 1st class on a PFT and you are over your weight, then you will be taped (measured). If your body fat is under the allowed for you height then you should have no trouble. If you drop to a second class, stand the hell by! Best thing to do is stay under your allowed weight and keep that 1st class.

By my calculations (if you can do 100 crunches in 1 min), you currently have a 232 PFT score. (I doubled your run time for the 3 miles, but that may be off.) A 1st class is a 225 or better, you still need some work to open a better buffer if your worried about weight, and you need to keep you Body Fat percentage down.

So, I agree with Dav, where is the worry and the question?

My worry is my recruiter is keeping me in the dark about PCP because he says that I won't need to worry about it because he says he'll get me down to weight, but him leaving out the details as to what PCP is or entails worries me.

PCP (Physical Conditioning Platoon, a.k.a.: Pork Chop Platoon) is where they send the recruits who are a) Fat/Overweight/Over Body Fat allowance; or b) Can't pass the IST or a PFT somewhere along the line in Boot.

Trust us, you do not want to go there. The DI's know and remember the recruits they send, or get from, there.

Keep doing your PT, stay away from power lifting (you don't want to bulk), and watch what you eat. If you recruiter is worth his salt, and he should be, you will be fine.

He's not telling you because it doesn't sound like you really need to worry about it. If anything, they may modify your chow intake, but if you keep improving your PFT scores, you won't be taken out of the cycle.

Update: I went to workout and I weighed myself. I've lost 6 lbs from last thursday when my recruiter weighed me. And I still have a month and a half to lose the rest (which is 12 lbs).

Keep up the good work, and as RV said, if you keep improving you won't have anything to worry about.

Good Luck!

i believe if you pass the ist they won't send you to PCP you will join a training platoon but you will not be allowed to eat as much and have a white stripe painted on your pt shirts. you just have to graduate with apropriate body fat. Less then 18% or at wieght.
