Can I get another "knowledge" so I can brushup?
I went through boot camp in '87 and would prefer one from then, if such a thing is available. I guess a newer version would be good enough.
I assume you all know what I am talking about, the irritating green binder that fit in the cammies pocket, with all the good stuff I should know but maybe dont. I dont even know what I dont know anymore.

Hmm, interesting question. Have you tried some of the Surplus shops in your area? Or you could hunt online, I'm sure there are plenty of millitary enthusiasts out there and one of the groups could point you in the right direction or best case scenario be able to send you one.

That's all I've got for now, but I will keep it in mind.

OB MSG over and out!

I've always wondered the same thing, how to get a "green monster".
I don't even remember what I did with mine, probably Sh*t canned it like everyone else. I never thought I would want to keep it.

This "Knowledge/Green Monster" book. Is that the same as the "Guidebook for Marines"? If so, you may order the current edition through: http://usmcpress.com/guidebook.htm

You could also try calling the Recruit Depot, and see if there are any channels you can go through there to get the actual one they use now. Finding one from the 80's would involve find a Marine who went through around the same time and hoping they have one.

That looks right. It says there that it is issued to Recruits, so it must be what I was looking for. Thank very much.

It will cost me about $14 and countless more $ since I found that website with other stuff to buy also.

There was a smaller book that recruits used to cover the basics. It was called "Essential Subjects." It covered general orders, rank structure, interior guard, customs & courtesies, uniforms, PFT, and a couple other things. The Guidebook for Marines was also issued but generally not used. It covered everything in the Essential Subjects handbook plus a whole lot of other information. I don't think you can purchase the Essential Subjects book, but the Guidebook should satisfy your need.
