The few. The proud. The Marines.

A few of the proud stationed out of South Bend came home safely Friday from a tour in Iraq.

There was no grand homecoming celebration and no parade, but the soldiers say seeing their family and friends at the airport gate was a great welcome home.

"You realize how important family and all that is to you," says LCpl. Brian Bierrou from Winamac. "It gives you a better world view of what's going on. You can kind of see it first hand."

"When he is out of the country, the emotions that you have and the feelings that you have and things that go through your mind...it's just nice to have him home again," says Brian's dad, Jim Bierrou.

"You send them off seven months ago, and you worry, you do, and to have them home in one piece, and obviously happy and doing well is fantastic," says Major Celeste Ross from Company B.

And these servicemen have their own ideas of what is fantastic.

"Just go home, relax, spend time with my family and my friends," says LCpl.. Michael Torres.
