Dawgg, that reminds me of a conversation I had recently with one of my daughters husband. He's a good guy he has been brainwashed with right wing republican nonsense. Typical engineer type, lol.

He was saying how he dislikes democrats because they are going to raise taxes and take his money for social programs, like health care.

IMO republicans like to borrow and spend, democrats like to tax and spend. Which is more honest and healthy? Seems to take it out of your pocket is to me instead of mortgaging our childrens future by borrowing.

That still doens't answer the question of who taxes more? I think the Dems like to tax the rich more, which is why Corporate America hates the dems.

All I know is the national debt is a horrible reflection of our country, just like personal debt is a reflection of ourselves.

Say what your want about Clinton and I have bad things to say as well, but he did like to keep our bank account pretty balanced, it was almost down to a surplus with his administration.

Yea thats a great clip man, thats what I'm saying. Actually the graph doesn't show Clinton having a surplus, but it was down way way lower than what we have now. My point wasn't as much about Clinton as it was about our national debt in general.

As the clip shows Bush at the very start saying our debt is 296 Billion, and its really 760 Billion, and our debts and commitments are 49 Trillion, unreal.

Jim Cooper also states how we are "borrowing fantastic sums of money from other countires".

James, I am with you about congress, they are almost as inept as Bush, almost. They have actually had a slim majority in the Senate and a 30 seat majority in the house for about 1 yr. of actual "working time", if you call it that. Our current problems have been festering for a lot longer than one year my friend, lol.

A lot of our problems started to really grow when the republicans controlled congress and the White house, no checks and balances and we are paying for it, big time.

Actually this congress has done a few good things, IMO:
