For a "time-traveler" to reveal any information about anything of the present time would be dangerous as it may curb the domino effect of those events need to effect future historical events required to create the history known to him.
For the past of the future to become altered or not to happen, may cause certain births that created people of future history not to become, and may cause the birth of others to be effected hence once again changing the future historical events that shaped his world as he knew it, thereby changing everything when he returns. I refer you to the 1980's movie, "Return to the Future."
Thereby, we will just have to wait until whatever year he claims to be from to arrive. Or, search the tunnels of New York until he is found.
