Does someone know where I could find a list of info to memorize before going to boot? In this Poolee book we got when we ded'd in has:
The General Orders
Marines Motto
Mission of the Marine Corps
Marine Corps Birthday
Chain Of Command
Customs and Cuortesies
Code of Conduct
Oath of Enlistement
Marines Hymn
Marine Corps Ranks
Military Time
Glossary of terms

Should I have all of those memorized? I didn't know if I needed to know the:
Code of Conduct
Oath of Enlistment

Also I know I need to know the Marines Creed. Is there anything else? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The Marine Corps motto is so taken for granted among Marines, it's inconcievable that someone might not know what it means.

Semper Fidelis.

ALWAYS FAITHFUL!!!

Always.

Not to mention that a Google search will find this stuff as well, but it's all here, I do believe.

One thing. You won't really know what yer chain of command is to be until later. Did you mean rank structure?

here's another one for you:

Are ya beginnin' to get the picture?

A little initiative goes a long way.

the more Marine Corps knowledge you know before you ship out to boot camp, the better off you'll be. at the very least, you should be able to recite the General Orders. but go over the materiels that your recruiters gave you & learn as much as you can before you go.

good luck!

You might also learn the rifle creed (This is my rifle, ...), some of the most important Marine Corps decorations (MOH, Navy Cross, etc. down through Good Conduct Medal), some facts about the weapons currently in use (for example, for the M16A2 rifle, what are its loaded and unloaded weights, muzzle velocity, what ammunition does it fire, what are its rates of fire, etc.). Any amount of Marine Corps history is good (who are the two Marines to have been awarded the MOH twice, and what were they awarded for, who is Chesty Puller (goodnight, wherever you are), who are Camp Lejeune and Camp Pendleton named for, where is Tun Tavern, who is Smedley Butler, etc. Who are the current Commandant and Sergeant Major? How many divisions are there and where are they headquartered? Same question for Air Wings and FSSG's. What are the navy enlisted and officer ranks and what do their insignia look like? What's the procedure for embarking or disembarking from a naval vessel?
