Do you by chance know what year pockets were added to the blouse? I know is was not before 1943 but I can't seem to find an answer.

(Lep note...moved and edited this someone for the 'good of the order'...it might also be a good question for a 'Marine of the Quarter' board or some such...Marines take note!)

From the research I've been able to find, pockets were added in 1946 and modified again in 1948. As soon as I can locate the actual order (if I can) stating that, I'll either post it or a link.
That having been said, from my research on this this morning, it would appear that OFFICER DB blouses have had pockets throughout the 20th century.

Pockets or no, I still can't imagine stuffing them with your wallet or keys.

True, true. I think the pockets were merely added after WWII as a 'fashion update' type of thing.
If I can locate an actual MCO on it or uniform regulation, I'll be able to nail it down better.

Yeah after the ball I barely noticed the pocket on my dress blues, haha.

Officers had pockets and there were many variants through out ww2, to ones with just the two bottom pockets to no pockets to tailor made all four pockets.
