ca 1863-1867. Navy blue wool body with black leather visor. Marine Corp hat insignia with bugle and silver M mounted on red cotton. Flanked with two Navy-style buttons. Interior with extra wide black leather sweat band. Combination olive glazed cotton liner and olive silk lozenge patterned liner.
This style hat insignia was used by the Marine Corps from 1863-1867.
Body of hat in excellent condition with no moth holes in the wool. Hat emblem and visor are in excellent condition.
