My recruiter told me that my friend got a bad case of pneumonia and is getting dropped from boot camp. He said he'd come back "soon", and that he'll go back when he can pass the PFT (instead of the IST).

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for someone to get shipped back from boot camp? He's my first referral and quite motivated, lost 30 pounds while he was in DEP, he was begging my recruiter for a way to stay.

BTW: Anyone see the new DEP gear they're handing out? One of my fellow poolees (been in for over a year) came back from MEPS with the new underarmor style t-shirts. Our Pool Specialist said he'd even bring me one of the new jackets for my 2 referrals.

Are they sending him home because of that? They usually keep you in the hospital until your better then PCP to train for the PFT, Curious! Unless there's more than we know about him that is!

If he is in RSP over at MCRDSD he could be there a little while. It all depends on how long they wanna keep him in RSP(recruit seperation platoon) for until they send him home. It could be 1 week or it could be 2 months. While I was down at the Depot I saw a guy that was in RSP for about 5-6 weeks.

LOL I thought this comment was hilarious, due to last night i was hanging otu with my recruiter, and the RA's at a recruiting function thingy, adn some kid asked if you could get sent home from boot camp and how. One of the RA's looked at him adn said the fastest way out of bootcamp is graduate and doing it that way doasnt make you look like a crybaby. The kid didnt know what to say he just stood there while his buddies laughed at him. We did find out later that he was already going into the army.

Not always true. We droped kids that were writting us letters from home in a matter of weeks. On the other hand, some kids were still there when we left. It all depends.

This is not totally true. Because i was discharged from MCRDPI for Asthma. I was in EHP for 4 weeks, and RSP for 1 week. And i was in 1st RTBN for 2 weeks. So i was only there for 7 weeks total. But...
