Marines offer words of wisdom abound around the heater

RODRIGUEZ RANGE, South Korea — Marines from the 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division spent a lot of time firing weapons and practicing movement during training on this range along the demilitarized zone this week.

And while the training was taking place on the firing line, an education of sorts was taking place in the warming tent for the California-based Marines.

As they huddled around a heater to fend off the cold, their interaction was, as many Marines were quick to point out, pretty humorous.

What was so funny? Here are a few of the more memorable and printable observations:
“You can’t call dibs unless you sit on it. There’s a rule.”
“We don’t talk about the sun. If we talk about the sun, it goes away.”
“No, corporal, I thought she was a girl.”
“Don’t eat the Charms. It’s bad luck to get Charms in an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat).”
“For the record, that guy wasn’t naked. He had gym shorts on.”
“If you’re in the field, and you’ve got to pee, you can’t always get out of the truck. Sometimes you’ve got to make do.”
