'Running God's Way' Helps Christian Candidates Launch a Successful Campaign

Americans say it is important that candidates for public office have strong religious beliefs; 61 percent say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who does not believe in God, according to "Religion in Campaign '08," a poll by the Pew Research Center.
Vicky Hartzler, a former three-time Missouri state representative, believes it's critical that Christians run for public office, whether that office be president of the United States or president of the local school board. "Our country needs more people with integrity serving in public office at all levels of government," she states.
In her new book, "Running God's Way" (Pleasant Word, 2008), Hartzler gleans from myriad campaign experiences to equip Christians who plan to run for public office. When Hartzler ran for office, she didn't know whether it was God's will that she win. "I only knew I was supposed to run." She believes that when Christians choose to take the step of faith, they, too, will discover that God will supply the equipment and strategy they need to bring Him glory.
