0844 question

Hello all,

Hi i just registered with the site and am in school so dont have much time to make this post. I was just curious about the mos 0844 field arttilery fire control man. I have had this mos since i joined on june 22 2007 and was wondering if i would be on the gunline or back somewhere else like a humvee or tent Etc.

You would be away from the gunline but close enough to hear the pop.

Yes you will be away from the gun line in a tent. You will be dry while the gun grunts are wet and muddy and cold. They will cuss you too. You will be dry and warm. But if the battery gets in a big fire mission like a all night-er you will be out humping ammo to the howitzers. When you join the battery you will be low man on totem pole. They are the ones that help on the gun line when needed. It really is a pretty good job.

hmm i see i have 3 months to think of what i want to do. Ive been pretty interested in artillery since i joined (june 22 2007). Im still not sure. I appreciate the help.

Does any other marine have any insight on this that has had experience with 0844?

project--------------It is a good MOS. When you hear the Grunts calling for help you are the 2ed in line for helping them. When they call back and say " good job, you just saved our butts" You will feel mighty good.

Of course you can. You just need to find an arty unit close to you. or move close to it.

I live in the dallas area so i belive the closest one is in Ft. Worth.About 45 minutes from my house.
