Where can a former Marine get dress blues? I can't find my size on e-bay. Don't know any surplus stores here. Can someone help? I realize, this may have been discussed before.
Thanks,

The best place I have found with no shipping is this naval exchange, USC Customer Service, 1-800-368-4088 but you will need your DD-214. They also handle everything for the dress greens along with the dress blues. Semper FI.:flag:

Doesn't that stink? Even if you did get on base, you wouldn't even be able to buy gas or anything since you need an ID to buy anything on base...

You are issued your uniforms, but dress blues are only issued to the honor grad.

From what I remember you get issued the blue trousers and white cover, the rest you have to buy.

Didn't they just start issuing dress blues again a couple of months ago? Every decade or so they change what they issue.

The Commandant wanted every Marine to be issued a set of Dress Blues, so effective 1 OCT 2007, all recruits are issued a complete set of Dress Blues!

Now the HONOR man may have his awarded to him at no cost, but the rest of the recruits have to pay for them just like the rest of their uniforms!

You are issued two sets of dress blues if you are on MSG duty (Marine Security Guard). Well, let me rephrase that, they make sure you have two sets of Blues, if you have your own set when you get there then you are issued a second set, if not then you get two.

Otherwise, as previously posted, you only get blues if you are the honor grad. Although for a time, Blues were also issued to graduating Recruits/Marines who had helped to get people to join before they left or graduated.

I didn't know about the Commandants order, but that sounds correct. I had the honor of being selected Honor Grad for my platoon (1st Bn, B Co., Ptn 1109; Grad date: Dec 1998), so I recieved my Blues...

MARADMIN 504/07, I believe is the order that says each recruit will receive Dress Blues!

Could be wrong though!

Any military clothing store on a Marine base will sale the dress blues or any other uniform item to you. I have called the PI clothing store, told them what I wanted and sizes, gave my credit card info along with shipping info and if it needed to tailored, they sent it over to the tailor on base and then shipped the order to me. I have ordered the dress blue trousers with blood stripe, khaki shirts, belts, corfram shoes, and emblems this way.

In Dec 2007 I was at Camp Jejeune and got a visitors pass and when to what they call a mini PX, contains gift shop, clothing store, food court, outdoor sports store, MCA store and a couple other, I purchased uniform items and accessories without a military ID card, but you have to be an active member of a Marine Corps League Detachment or have the ID card. They asked for the ID card first and I informed them I was a member in good standing of the MCL and that was all it took.

If you are buying dress blues, you need to go into a clothing store, since they need to be tailored to fit you. I called and got a fitting chart and had it filled out when I got there to save time.

Call the closest Marine base to you and ask for the clothing store, they will tell you what is needed to order by phone or if you need to come into the store and provide DD-214 or MCL members card.

There are a bunch of stores in Jacksonville where you can go and buy a full set of blues off base. Saigon Sams, Fosters in the J-ville mall, pretty much ANY pawn shop in Jacksonville, etc.

Ebay works too. I got a nice set off of there. You have to be clear on the sizes though.

Back in the day, I was kinda glad I never got issued blues. Once they are issued they are also required, and inspected when the ever popular JOB came to town.
