THE DAILY NEWS
Nearly 200 more Marines and sailors are home again.

Families and loved ones welcomed 175 members of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group home from Iraq on Wednesday.

Another 225 return late tonight.

Wednesday’s return to Camp Lejeune followed a nearly 13-month deployment.

The group has been credited with having a tremendous impact on increased security in the al Anbar province.

During the past year, attacks against coalition forces significantly decreased. Al Anbar has gone from one of Iraq’s most dangerous provinces to one of its safest.

“An amazing transformation has happened,” said Maj. Gen. Walter E. Gaskin, outgoing commanding general of Multi-National Forces — West and II Marine Expeditionary Forces (Forward).

The group’s mission consisted of supply, motor transport, engineering, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, medical and dental support and services such as postal and disbursing.

It worked with Iraqi security forces to bring medical care to the Iraqi people, kept the combat element of MNF-W moving and processed more than 28 million pounds of mail.
Those returning on Wednesday were from communications and service companies.
