Hi guys,

Well I've been over here, from UK, for over 1 year now, and am getting itchy feet.

Where, if given the opportunity, would you like to live in USA, and why?
Looking forward to all answers.:)

Take good care.

Ricky

Depends on what weather, terrain, and politics you prefer. One of the good points about the USA is that we have just about one of everything (good and bad) you could desire.

Getting them in a single package might take some planning though.

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Hated the cold, snowy weather. When I retired I moved to Florida (sorry DWG).

I always liked Wyoming, Montana, and Utah. Looked forward to hauling loods to or through those states. Found majority of the people friendly and straight forward. Winters can get a tad bit cold.

Ricky, live in the middle, much safer when the edges break off. What do you enjoy? Fishing or shopping? Me,,,,, My dream is to build a log cabin. Find a place where the local constabulary doesn't ***** when you build yourself a friggen shed. We are running out of rights. Find a place where you can be you,,,,, at least for your kids sake. SF, you foreigner, LOL.

Will you be seeking employment? Interests: motorcycling, photography, travel, There are stretches of road in the west where one can drive for hours without seeing more than a few vehicles and you don't have to make appointments, stand in crowds or buy permits to snap an abundance of wonderful photos. Folks can still turn off the highway and throw soogans down for a sleep under the stars without much concern but the weather. If you need to make a dollar well thats what keeps the hoards out of the big country. Good paying jobs can be hard to secure. Parts of most western states appear bleak and painfully vast but once you leave the main roads with a topo map theres a lot of exploring to do. Oregon has state tax and property taxes are high but no sales tax, the land is extensive and diverse. NE California is much different from the south and you would never know your in that soviet republic but its still connected by law. N Nevada is huge and known as part of America's cold desert. No personal income tax in Nevada and its hard to starve with cheap food available at the casino's. Within a short time you can travel from within urban sprawl and all its amenities to a howling wilderness. I cant tell you exactly where i would like to live because its a secret but i could narrow it down to a handful of counties in few states.

I guess, as a retired RM, we could make space for one more down here. We can always kick out a couple of retired doggies or zoomers, Lord knows we got over quota on those!;)

There's a Marines motorcycle club with most of the local chapters in the west, membership available to all honorably discharged Marines. Perhaps they could grant a Royal ex-pat waiver:marine:

NY Adirondack regions...all the camping, riding, hunting and such you can stand....at least 7 months a year....and then the snow fun begins... <br />

I'm a big fan of Arizona and New Mexico. Flagstaff is absolutely gorgeous. Good whether and great recreation. Only downside is I like the woods...and there just aren't enough trees.

Anywhere around Atlanta, GA would be great for you - we've got the lakes, rivers, woods (PLENTY of riding space), close enough to the city where you can go to damned near ANY sports event you may be interested in, weather is great (never too cold but can be a b!tch in the summer with heat & humidity but, that's why God made air conditioning), 2 racetracks (one on each side of town).............................

What lakes. Last I heard your water supply lake was a mud puddle.

;) ................believe it or not Big Brother, I just LOVE GA - I've lived here longer than I have anywhere else. Besides, if he DID come here, the area I'm talking about may as well be on the other side of the country from me. I stick close to lights and noise - I'm close enough to the city (maybe 20 minutes) to go for fun and far enough away from it to hear the crickets at night in the summertime.

Our lakes are pretty much mud puddles but, they're REALLY big puddles. Folks are still boating - they just had to relocate docks. Springtime comes, them bad boys fill back up, everybody happy.
