I am new to this forum. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself. My name is Mark Hollingsworth, I am a high school senior. I leave for MCRD Parris Island on May 27, 2008. I have always wanted to be in the Marine Corps before I can remember. I am currently working very hard to get into shape for Parris Island. We have a Poolee function once a month, the last IST I did 20 dead hang pull ups, and 105 sit ups. I am not a very good runner I think I got 11.5 minutes on the 1.5 mile run, but I am working very hard to improve my run time. Mark Hollingsworth

Welcome Aboard Leatherneck, if there is anything anybody can assist you with or answer questions please do not hesitate to ask. I would say the 8 minute mark is good but look at the three mile like this. Run it as if it were 5 miles then prepare for the three mile in mind that it isn't that far it is mind over matter. Don't just run for the three miles in other words. Excellent on the situps, apply that to the run and you are GOG..!!! When you go to my al matter say hello for me. Speaking of Parris Island and recruit training it is 90% mental and 10% physical.

I am new to this forumYes helloI am not a very good runner...Most people are not and don't train in miles, even your high school peers unless they're track or cross country.

You'll do fine. That run time will improve with a little bit of extra coaching. The screaming kind with three stripes up, one stripe down, and a whole lot of pi$$ and vinegar in his veins. He'll chase you on that IST and you'll get better. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Hell of a lot better than I am going to do. I am at about 2-3 pullups, around 50-65 sit ups and I will be lucky if I can do the run. I just recently swore in(I had about 6 weeks total to get my ass in line, 1 of those forfeit due to extraneous circumstances). I thought I was going to have an extra month to go but since I chose 0300 I had to ship a month early. Such is life I suppose. Worse case scenario is I am in the PCP for a bit.

Welcome and your scores are pretty good.
Always keep working on all of that though, just because you can pass the minimum or maximum doesn't mean you shouldn't shoot for more!
You should shoot for 200 sit ups, 8 minute 1.5 and 30 pullups!
Good luck!
P.S. What MOS are you shooting for?
