Hey.
I'm having a surgery on March 17th. The recovery time is only 10 days and I'm clear to move on and do pretty much what ever I want, my surgeon says.
Will I be able to go to boot late March early April?
I made good friends with a few guys that are leaving early April and I would like to leave for boot on the buddy program with them.
Will this be possible? Does MEPs require their own rest preiod between surgery and boot?
thanks,

I would advise you to call your recruiter.

Also, I would advise against using the buddy program. As my recruiter has said to some guys, if you have a buddy, just stay next to them through recieving and you will more than likely end up together.

Yes, but this does not contract you to PFC!

I have a steel bar in my chest. The surgery is kind of like braces. When your teeth are messed up, you get braces to correct it. Leave them in for 2-3 years and then they are out. With a retainer.
Same thing with my surgery. My chest dipped inward so my doctor put a steel bar in to give it a round shape. March 17th will be 2 1/2 years and will be removed. After the ten days I'm cleared. The "retainer" is breathing exercises.
Even now I can do what ever I want. I can go play on a football team if that was a sport I was interested in. The ten day rest is just so the cut can heal and not tear from any stretching or weight lifting, and no infections. I keep hearing different things. One recruiter said I have to wait 6months, another said 30-60 days, and another said I will be good to go with a doctors note.
That is why i came here to see what other people may have heard or know from their experience.

Why worry about staying near your buddy and possibly getting put together, when you can sign the buddy program. This makes no sense to me.
