Fueled By The Fallen's memorial race cars, one of which is covered with names of U.S. Marines killed in Iraq, will be on display during Super Bowl weekend at Cabela's, the outdoor sports emporium just north of University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

The brainchild of actor Kevyn Major Howard, who played "Rafterman" in Stanley Kubrick's war film Full Metal Jacket, Fueled By The Fallen is a non-profit organization whose three traveling race cars are painted in Marine camouflage and race at events around the country. One of the racers, a 1963 Chevy Nova, has the names of fallen Marines stenciled on its sides and roof.

The organization raises money to assist the families of dead or injured Marines, as well as those returning from abroad who need help. The eventual goal is to create similar memorial race cars for each branch of the military.

On Sunday, a platoon of Marines ran with the cars from downtown Glendale to Cabela's, 9380 W. Glendale Ave., where the cars will remain on display through Monday.
