View Full Version : I'm the Guide at my RSS!
I kinda picked it up last week, but we did an Indian run and didn't need the guide-on. Today i got to carry the flag and lead the RSS down the street to the park! It seems easier up front and carrying the flag... but ya, i just wanted to brag.:D

Congratulations, obviously you had to put out to pick up that position.
Our guide shipped out last week, and the other poolees have been calling me the shoe-in for guide. I can kind of emphasize with that feeling though as the first squad leader since the previous guide had a knee injury and I had to take on the responsibilities for a while.
The guidon is great to run with for a while. Then it turns into a lead weight in your hands. I remember the first week just hearing "A guidon hold that flag up high!" during cadence a lot because of how much of a burden it was. On the longer runs, you'll understand why some people are just so eager to pass the guidon to someone else.
And if your RSS is anything like my RSS, get ready to start pushing anytime one of the poolees below you messes up. :D
Ya. im one of those guys that feels the pain quick then it goes away. I was feelin it for the firsI 1/2 mile. Once we got down to the park, 1 1/4 miles, it was like nothing. then on the run back it was nothing then. Smacked a few trees along the way, but being 6'7" I can hold it low and it looks high enough;) .
Our last guide is a wrestler and took off for the season and now hes injured... so when they where looking for a new guide i just grabbed it and called everyone out on deck. now im Guide.

Yea, wait till you do company pt, and you're carrying the Guidon and you're told to do laps around the plt in front of you and the plt behind you, at a dead sprint, while holding that Guidon high. **** the pain, that **** is moto as hell!!!

I haven't seen Gunny George in a few weeks, ill ask him on wednesday. but she hardly comes. and when she does she gives it a go, but i dont think she's to serious. she needs to gain wieght, thats for sure. I used to stick to the back and push her and Aaron along but now im up front and can't depend on the new guys to do it.
I have a feeling I should know you... lol. you look just like Gunny Osorio, but a little whiter. haha.

Im also the Guide at my RSS..I had to really Put out and work hard for that Position. We've never had a GUIDE or Squad Leaders, until this past Month.
Being the SEnior Poolee and the Only FEMALE at My RSS..I feel Damn Proud!..Im getting really good at Holding the GuideOn..How to Drill with it...RUN a few MILEs...Stand at the position of Parade Rest, Attention, Present Arms (even though we don't do that one).etc....Its awesome!..

Ok, poolees, the correct word is guidon. Not guide-on, guideon, guide on, or Guide On. I see that all the time, and it's been getting to me for like a year now. Sorry to be nitpicky, but those things bug me. I still love you all.
