Alright everyone, I'm down to my last 6 days and the tension is definitley building up. I'm not really leaving much behind, as far as friends, family, etc...

Though I have been advised against it on this board before, I am going in with a "Medrep" program, where after recieving, I go to medical to get a hernia operated, then I go through some recovery time, and to my understanding, I have to spend 21 days in the PCP afterwards.

That means that I'm probably going to be at PI for the better part of 18 weeks.

Besides the advice that has been given on what to do/not do do, which I have already read, what can you do in bootcamp to stay sane. I know that everything there is a "science" so to speak, but besides that knowledge, is there anything else that can make those 18 weeks more endurable?

Thanks in advance,

Not much advise for the extra time you're going to spend on PI, other than have fun, lol.

So you're going through receiving, then the operation and recovery, then you will be jammed into another platoon later. At least you will be put in at the start of training basically. I remember later on in bootcamp we had picked up a prive or two and they never quite seemed to fit in, like they didn't belong. That shouldn't be an issue with you however.

Just stay mentally strong and don't let them break you....its all a mind game.

Awesome, thanks.

This is off topic, but is there anyway I can check if someone who claims to have been in the Marines is for real?

Just "keep your eyes on the prize"!! Don't look at the "big picture" of spending 18 weeks on my beloved Island, rather live chow to chow and Sunday to Sunday. Also, realize that every day you wake up, you are one day closer to EARNING the title of MARINE!!!

GET SOME!!

305, from someone that spent time healing in boot camp, the most important thing is to get as much mail as possible. Get someone here your address and have them pass it out. MRP time is horrible, having moto mail can make your day much better.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I've really found some good moto ideas in them, as far as the poser goes, he says he was an 0311, is there a way if I can check if someone by his name even served? it's not a very common name.

Overall he seems pretty legit, he's a bar friend. He offered up for me to write to him during boot, which would be great motivational wise, but I wouldn't want to come home only to discover that I've been writing to some random person I met at a bar for the last 18 weeks. That would be strange...

As far as the operation goes, It's something I need to do before I can become a Marine, and I can't get it operated on my own (yes, financially) The CMO at MEPS is the one that suggested it after my medical and it will make it much easier for me. I couldn't imagine waiting till I'm twenty something to get the operation before I could join.
