Lance Corporal Joshua Lawson of Salem, describes what Marines serving in Iraq are experiencing during the holidays.

AL ASAD, Iraq -- Harrison County native Lance Corporal Joshua Lawson is spending another holiday season in Iraq.

Lawson recently sent us an email on what Christmas is like at Al Asad Airbase.

You can read that e-mail below:

"Christmas Day is just a few days away. Over here our office is decorated quite nicely. We have blinking lights and a snowman to greet you when you first come in the door, and as you turn the first corner there are stockings hung up all over the place. Another Marine's family sent us all stockings with our names on them. We also have a table of goodies. We usually just have a small table in the corner, but since a lot of folks have been sending over all types of Christmas goodies we had to get out a much bigger table. We even have a good sized tree set up in the front of our office. On Christmas day, the chapel is holding a base-wide service. I hope and pray that this Christmas season everyone has a safe and happy time with their family and friends. Once again, thank you for your support. I would also like to add that despite all the recent events that the Mountaineers will emerge victorious in the Fiesta Bowl. Go Mountaineers!!!!!!!!"
