In this thread (http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53864), there was a discussion about boot leave and whether it was charged against your leave account or not. Someone mentioned there was possibly going to be a policy change and that the boot leave would no longer be charged. Does anyone know if that ever came to be? I asked my recruiter and he thinks the leave is no longer charged, but he didn't seem sure. If the leave is charged, I'd rather go straight to MCT and use leave before going to MOS school, if at all possible.
To my knowledge, it's still charged against your acct. And I can't see any reason why they would change that.

I've heard conflicting answers to this question, so I'd like to find out for sure. There must be a manual or something that states all the policies and procedures for taking leave, right?
Yes, search the MarAds on www.usmc.mil. There's only a few thousand of them, good luck.

alright, your leave will be charged to your account you are being granted leave in conjuction with your PCS orders.
If you want to look at the two references for me stating this here it goes.
MCO P1050.3H paragraph 2009.2 states, "
All leave taken in connection with PCS orders, except
as defined in PARAGRAPH 2010.1, shall be charged against the Marine’s
leave account."
Now they can only charge you leave if you are going to earn that much while in active duty. Basically reservists will not earn as much leave as an active duty marinein his contract so they can only charge you the max you will earn during your contract.
Active duty they will earn the days you have taken. But in case what i have typed doesnt make sense you can just read it for your self.
MCO P1050.3H paragraph 2010.4
4. Recruit Training Graduates. Upon graduating from recruit training,
Marines will be granted 10 days leave prior to reporting for their next
assignment. Reserve personnel attending Initial Active Duty Training
(IADT) may be granted leave upon graduation from recruit training not
to exceed the total leave that may be earned for the period of IADT,
including authorized travel time. This leave may be granted provided
it does not interfere with the scheduled training program or class
convening dates.
i hope this has answered your questions and this is the most current MCO on leave.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to see.
My answer in your link pretty much covers it. There is no change. We still charge Marines leave when they get to their first duty station.
