On this day in American military history:

Continental Navy Regulations are adopted, 1775. The second article of the regulations reads: "The Commanders of the ships of the thirteen United Colonies, are to take care that divine service be performed twice a day on board, and a sermon preached on Sundays, unless bad weather or other extraordinary accidents prevent." (NOTE: More proof of God in our founding documents.)

The commission of Continental Marine Corps Captain Samuel Nicholas, the first Marine commandant, is confirmed in writing, 1775.

Teheran Conference — between U.S. Pres. Franklin Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin — begins, 1943.
