Cpl. Thomas Gilmore (L) and his cousin Cpl. Carl “Albert” Rypien, both of Uhrichsville and Marines with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Division, returned home from service in Iraq for a surprise party in their honor Sunday at the Tuscarawas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Rypien is a son of Chone and Ray Burdette of Uhrichsville and Carl Rypien of Stillwater. He is a 2005 Claymont High graduate. Gilmore is the son of Eric Gilmore and Pat Milburn of Uhrichsville. He is a 2004 graduate of Claymont High. Both men were in Iraq for their first tour of duty for seven months. They returned to the United States at the end of October.
