THE ARTS & SCIENCES? YES, OF COURSE. BUT, THE ARTS & THE MARINE CORPS?

On ?SEEING? & Painting (An Interdisciplinary Perspective) is a thought-provoking, eye-opening primer, written for artists and non-artists alike, that introduces the art of "seeing" - what you have never noticed before-and offers more than four decades worth of the author's experience handling a paint brush. The psychology-oriented book was written as the one Weddington wished he had been able to find as a child when learning to paint. The book simply did not exist decades ago and has not up until he wrote and released his to the public in late-October 2007.

Weddington wrote the book for himself, for his students, and for anyone, whether interested in painting or not, simply wanting to "see" the visual world around them from a fresh perspective. And, oh by the way, though this is not a "how to" book, one could learn to paint from its concepts and practical lessons. Readers say the full-color, well-illustrated book is "captivating." The editors described it as "a gem."

"MAKING MARINES" from the sketchbook of Colonel A. F. Weddington, USMC (Retired) is an inside look at how the United States Marine Corps makes Marines' the recruit training process. Published in early-November 2007, this coffee table book contains nearly 100 life-drawn sketches of recruit training accompanied by "word sketches" of Weddington's first-hand account of the training process based on his three years of experience in a recruit training battalion at Parris Island, SC, supervising Drill Instructors "MAKING MARINES." Weddington wrote this book to combine his artistic skills with his military background to tell the public the story of how Marines are made. From the famed "yellow footprints" to earning the title "Marine" and the right and privilege to wear the eagle, globe, and anchor. Weddington lays out the time-tested training in a fascinating storybook format-you will laugh, think, and cry.
