I was wondering if anyone has a workout that would make a boot camp a breeze. Thx in advance.

1) What's your current fitness routine?

2) Are you currently yelled at all day, every day?

When I went to boot I was in prime fitness levels, especially when it comes to running. Didn't seem to matter.

If you want to train now, start doing everything as fast as you can ( except driving your car ) and each time you screw it up, do 50 push-ups as fast as you can, then start over. Don't accept mediocrity from yourself. When you get good at the push-ups, do them plus some nice stomach work, as fast as you can and repeat. When you stop screwing up, you aren't done, you're just ready to step it up another notch. Try something harder, and repeat.

Honestly, you can prepare all you want, it won't be a breeze.

Good luck!

1) Right now I'm just doing 100 push-ups and sit-ups a day.
2) And no, but someone yelling at me only affects me if i care about them.

You need to run a lot too. You should be able to do 3 miles nonstop when you get to boot camp. Learn as much about the USMC as you can - it's good for the career - and attend poolie meetings with your recruiters. Some of boot camp will be less shocking if you are educated. There's no avoiding it though...boot camp will find you and strip you to your core and test you mentally and physically.

Just work hard and you'll be fine. Workout smart and build up gradually to avoid injuries and heal them quickly.

There's a TON of GOOD info on this site - it can take weeks or months to sort through it all, but I know it would behove anyone wanting to earn the Title. Ask questions and you will get answers or the direction to look for the answers for yourself.

Even if you go in at the best physical condition possible, you will still be broken, and it will never EVER be a "breeze".

Your DIs will be machines. They will be able to go forever, and then some.

If they see you're doing 100 pushups with ease, they'll make you do 200, and then when you're done, they'll say "Do 100 now, tough guy".

Just...workout. Calisthenics.

It has been said a million times. The mental aspect is the hard part of boot camp. Heavyweight champions wilt under the stress that a recruit goes through. Being in shape isn't a bad thing, but it isn't going to make boot camp easy.

IMO, you should be doing WAY more. The PFT/IST is 100 situps in one set, not in one day. 100 pushups? Common, I do 100 while getting ready for bed. Do a max set whenever your at home and not doing anything. Every week two, depending on how many your doing, up it another 5, and never go back to however you were doing before. Get out and run, and run, and when you think about slowing down or stopping, run even faster.

The entire point of boot camp is that it will be the hardest thing you will ever do in your life. It's not supposed to be easy, thats what the Navy and Airforce are their for.

Like Achped said, no matter the preparation you will never be ready enough and it would be impossible to make it a "breeze." **** I don't think I did too many pushups...They knew I did well at them...however they knew I couldn't squat or scuzz the deck well so that is what I did when I got IT'd oh and V-Ups...that word should be banned its evil. If you are able to get a 1st class PFT and are able to climb/throw around your own body weight you will be fine.

I've heard many times that if you did any physcial sports in high school and you could put out there then most PT sessions in boot camp wont be too much harder. Anyone have an opinion on this?

Well I spent 5 years in college and didn't play anything but intramurals and worked out a few days a week. If you just put out the PT is not hard. The key is that what you put into it you get out of it so if you start that now you will be better. I ended up with a 266 PFT in bootcamp so...

****, don't worry about how bad you will do. Worry about how can I get stronger and faster.

Haha, yeah, exactly. If you can climb and pull yourself up, you'll have no problem. (i.e. a rope or climbing over bars)

But seriously, nothing will prepare you for scuzz parties.

Man I wish it was a scuzz party for me then someone would be helping. Most of the time the DI's would grab a canteen from someones war gear throw the water on the deck and I would do it while everyone was on line and the DI continued to speak...The thing was by the time I turned around to come back (one way you know) there was 1-2 more canteens of water on the ground....

I remember our senior went psycho on us after a fight broke out, so he dumped an entire cooler of ice all over the middle highway, a few minutes later he caught a recruit like sucking his fingers to warm them up, and he said "Oh, so you're cold? Well we better melt the ice then!"

That hot water from the head is....hot....

That's what I like about RJ....he's POSITIVE. Do not focus on negative thoughts like failing and worrying, 'cause then you will. Train hard, train smart, don't let yourself quit ( no one can MAKE you quit , only YOU can give up ), and keep your momentum moving forward. When you hit a wall, hit it back and keep going.

Bad. You will lose some of the fitness the first week you are there, because if you are bored or are just sitting around, you can't get up and go work out.

You PT when they say you PT. Morning, Evening, Afternoon, any time they feel like it. I was in good shape, or so i thought, but the the DI's will break you and then start the building up process. You will never like it. Just do it.

Also, the mental is the hard part. Away from home, friends and having them tell you that you suck at everything.
