I am looking for any info on Louis Ditta, O7273, my father, and especially any comments from those who knew him. He was in the Marines from 1940 to 1963, retired a Colonel on a medical discharge....

Thank you sir. Many Marine veterans visit the site multiple times per day. I have no doubt that there will be a Marine that will have knowledge of your father. Now patients is a virtue. I wish...

Thanks for the tips!
I do have a good cross section of items relating to his career.
I have two folders of his service records back to 1940, And a nice group of photos. The shots span the period 1940 to 1946, and post war, taken at Parris Island, Quantico, New River, Samoa, Guadalcanal, China, and on the APA Bergen transporting the 2/7 to China after Okinawa. I have a very nice collection of his personal items, as well as lots of bring-backs.
He is mentioned in two books that I know of; 'A Marine Named Mitch', and 'Treading Softly-U.S. Marines in China'.
I would be glad to share some photos if there is a way to post on this forum.
