I am a LCpl reservist looking to go active duty. Generally I do not post in forums, but instead look up similiar questions and find my answers that way. So far I know my command will have to do a conditional release, I will go back to a MEPS and do the physical exam over, resign an active duty contract, and eventually receive orders. I also know that I should get the answers to any other questions from a recruiter.

Most married marines from Tennessee go to Camp Lejeune. Some go to Camp Pendleton, very few married LCpl's go to Oki. I am an 0121 (admin) however and thus would be a prime candidate to be used at a local school. I know that admin, being a desired MOS, will have to be my active duty MOS. I have come up with the following duty stations nearby (under 600 miles.)

Meridian, MS (aviation support school)
New Orleans, LA (4th MarDiv HQ)
Fort Leonard Wood, MO (engineer and NBC school)
Kansas City, MO (Dispersing)
Great Lakes, IL (support ops)

That being said, my question is this:

1) Are there other schools/duty stations in the area?
2) How do I go about requesting such said stations?

If there are any other pertinent suggestions, they would be appreciated.

I would think any of the bases in North Carolina would fall into the 600 miles you mentioned. And I'm assuming that the NAS in Millington TN. still is open and still has a Marine Detachment.
